Tigers
Long Live the Tiger!
CTEP’s MAD lesson on 7 Feb 2010 at JBCG was apt because the animal for this lunar year is the tiger. The lesson was a needed educational account of a highly visible, and even loved animal, but one about which mainly myth and hearsay surrounds.
It was a strong and powerful lesson, giving facts illustrated by excellent and unique photographs: tigers swimming, on snow, frolicking with cubs, posing dramatically and regally. A video completed the lesson. It was taken by a photographer who through clever camouflage was able to observe and photograph a tiger and its three cubs, extremely rare and a scoop for the CTEP lesson – one cub is rare, but he “caught” three!
The children were taught to value the tiger. It is truly among God’s most magnificent creations, for example, each tiger’s face is unique just like ours, because each is striped differently. They were taught to never eat its meat, wear tiger fur, its claws or teeth. More importantly, to act as messengers for the truth about tigers. Humans aren’t high on the tiger’s menu. But humans go hunting and kill mousedeer, wild pigs, which are the tiger’s subsistence. Tigers are carnivorous. If we eat what is their food, then what are they supposed to do?

If you're a kid between the ages of 5 and 10, join us for our... MAD LESSON ON TIGERS. While February is a happy time for us to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Tiger, it is also a sad time for the wild tiger and for people who love them. Tigers are in great danger. There are only 500 tigers left in Malaysia. We have no tigers left in Singapore. Tigers are killed for people who like to eat their exotic meat and people who value medicines made from their bones and other parts. Help us keep tigers alive. Find out more about tigers and how you can play a part to save them.
